What is a Bio Stimulator How Does a Bio Stimulator Work

Are you bothered by lines, wrinkles, and loss of facial volume due to aging or genetics? If so, bio stimulators may be an excellent treatment option. Unlike other treatments that restore lost volume with hyaluronic acid, bio stimulators trigger your body’s natural production of collagen for natural-looking and prolonged results.

Today, let us discover what bio stimulators are, how they work, and if they can also work for your particular skin issues and concerns.

What are Bio Stimulators?

Bio stimulators are injectable solutions that stimulate collagen production to restore and replenish facial volume due to aging. Most skin clinics and med spas offer Sculptra and Radiesse injections at our office. These treatments deliver compounded proteins that strengthen the body’s natural growth factors. It connects to tissues on a molecular level, and the skin begins to regenerate, resulting in facial fullness, reducing wrinkles, and providing a natural glow. Bio Stimulator treatments will give you gradually, long-lasting results that complement other treatment modalities such as Botox, fillers, or lasers to ensure maximum results.

The advantages of this treatment include the following:

  • Improved deep facial, neck, and chest lines
  • Youthful appearance
  • Gradual natural results
  • Improved elasticity
  • Smoother skin

Why Choose Bio Stimulator Treatments?

Bio stimulators like Sculptra are great for a natural-looking result that will keep your friends and family guessing if you’ve had something done! Because the results are a gradual process over several weeks, you won’t look ‘done’ but somewhat refreshed as your body builds more collagen.

How Do Bio Stimulators Work?

These are a variety of “filler” like substances that stimulate your body to naturally strengthen your skin as they produce collagen and elastin and thus add volume, lift, and hydration.

Biodegradable substances have been used in medical practice for years and have a fantastic safety record. Your body eliminates them, in most cases, as carbon dioxide and water over time.

Bio Stimulator Treatments

Sculptra (875+)

Sculptra is an injectable collagen bio stimulator. Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible synthetic substance that stimulates the body to produce collagen. It can treat deep lines, creases, and folds to give you a more youthful appearance. Sculptra gradually improves the treated area over several weeks, producing a natural result.

Hyperdilute Radiesse

Radiesse is calcium hydroxylapatite, or CaHA, a dermal filler that provides immediate contouring and stimulates collagen and elastin production. Hyperdilute Radiesse is thinning out Radiesse filler with a mixture of saline solution and Lidocaine. This mixture is injected into areas where the skin shows sagging and looseness.

Frequently Asked Questions

“When can I see the effects?”

Immediately, but then they “vanish” for a while. By 3 or 4 months, bio stimulators will have stimulated your skin enough to show a naturally lifted and hydrated appearance.

“Is it painful to have these injections?”

Not really, especially when the use of cannulas is possible. These are hollow tubes inserted into the skin through a hole (made by a needle). This blunt tube is then guided under the skin’s surface, depositing filler along the way.

These are more comfortable than having repeated needle injections and are generally safer than needles, as they glide around vessels in the face. Experts often also use numbing cream, local injectable anesthetic, or ice to make things more comfortable for you. So the procedure is remarkably well tolerated.

“How long does the cosmetic effect last?”

These bio stimulators can last anywhere between 6-25 months. They depend on your lifestyle and their manufactured programming for their longevity. Some of these are brilliant next-generation fillers.

“Do I need to keep having injections?”

No, but most patients want to maintain a maintenance regime as they are so happy about their appearance. However, as your natural aging process continues, your filler will be absorbed, and you will return to how you looked before.

You will be advised when to have your top-ups cost-effectively to maintain your fresh appearance.

“Are there any risks involved with bio-stimulators?”

Unfortunately, this is often because the wrong type of bio stimulator has been injected into the wrong place and by the wrong person. An injectable enzyme can dissolve only HA bio-stimulators (hyaluronidase), but this can only be kept as stock by someone who can prescribe medications, e.g., a doctor/dentist. Unfortunately, the others are not dissolvable.

The benefits of bio stimulator treatments can be life-enriching. However, did you know it is legal for unqualified people to inject fillers into your face if you have been permitted to do so? This incident is where things go wrong, and nightmare stories appear in the press.

“What should I do before the procedure?”

There are no basic precautions. However, you want to minimize the chance of bruising. In that case, you could stop alcohol, vitamin E supplements, aspirin (if it is safe), and other anti-inflammatories (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac) 3 days before the procedure.

Please postpone your appointment if you have an infection.

“Is there any aftercare advice?”

Yes, there is. You will be given written information about this when you attend a consultation.

Please refrain from applying makeup for 12 hours. Avoid vigorous exercise and extremes of temperature for three (3) days after your bio stimulator treatment. Bruising can last 5-10 days (depending on where it has been injected), so do not have this done less than two (2) weeks before a big event or a holiday away.

If Sculptra is injected, you must massage the area daily for two (2) weeks after the treatment.

“Who is it not suitable for?”

It is unsuitable for patients under 18 years of age or those women who are pregnant or breastfeeding and have certain unusual medical conditions.

You will need a detailed consultation if you have permanent facial implants, as you cannot sometimes use bio stimulators on top of specific prosthetics.
